iOS exposes both built-in and connected USB audio inputs through the recording permission model. If input meters stay silent, confirm that microphone permission is enabled for TapeMan in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Multi-channel interfaces expose several channel pairs. Choose the input pair that carries your source and the output pair connected to your monitors or headphones. If you hear nothing, step through the available output pairs first.
Use headphones when live monitoring. Monitoring through a speaker in the same room as an open microphone will feed back. Lower the monitor level before enabling monitoring on an unfamiliar setup.
Record WAV or M4A, and use signal-activated recording to start capture automatically when audio arrives. Finished takes land in the library directly beneath the cassette in the same view.
Search by name, sort and filter the library, and use a take's ellipsis menu to loop, rename, trim, share, or delete it. Processed versions, stems, and bounces stay grouped with their original.
Touch the tape to scratch, slow, stop, or reverse it. Hold, Follow, Sync, and Mix change how the tape reacts to your hand and how it resyncs afterwards. Tape start and stop shape the spin-up and spin-down.
Stack Color and Motion effects and perform them while the take plays. Bounce recording writes the performance to a new version—the original take is never replaced.
The first time you start stem separation, TapeMan explains the download size and asks you to confirm. The archive is downloaded over HTTPS from a public GitHub release, checksum-verified, and compiled locally. Remove it any time from the Stem Mix screen; already-separated stem files remain.
Import your own local video files as silent looping backgrounds behind the cassette, crop them, apply the pixel treatment, and sequence several clips. TapeMan ignores video audio.
TapeMan Pro Lifetime is a one-time €5.99 non-consumable purchase that supports Family Sharing. If Pro features are locked on a new device or after reinstalling, use Settings → Lifetime Pro → Restore Purchases.
Report an Issue lets you write a description and optionally attach a redacted diagnostic bundle. Nothing is sent automatically—the system mail composer or share sheet opens so you can review, edit, or cancel first.
Email TapeMan Support and include the details below so the issue can be reproduced quickly.
